Asus is reportedly working on launching a new smartphone with an under-display camera and a pop-up camera. The company has filed the patent for the same.

The report has come to Android Updated courtesy of Letsgodigital.

A day after the design patents for an Asus smartphone with a pop-up camera was approved, a design patent from Asus was published. This time we see a smartphone with a hole in the display for the selfie camera. The first-mentioned design patent was also submitted from France, while this patent was submitted via a company in Germany.

We see an Asus smartphone with a hole in the left top of the display for a single front camera. The speaker is also incorporated into the narrow bezel with this design. Unfortunately, the design does not show how many cameras this phone receives at the rear. The design is largely in line with the recently launched Samsung Galaxy A8s and the Huawei Nova 4.

The CEO at Asus, Jerry Shen, resigned this month after the business results of Asus were disappointing (lowest annual profit since 2010). Jerry Shen has been involved with Asus for 25 years, 11 of which as CEO. From 1 January 2019, his tasks will be taken over. With the arrival of a new CEO, the company will also change its focus.

The Taiwanese manufacturer intends to focus even more on gaming, this quickly created the idea that the company will produce fewer smartphones.

Meanwhile, an Asus spokesperson in an interview with Gadgets 360, from New Delhi Television, has announced that the company will continue the development of its Zenfone smartphone series in 2019. The Zenfone 5 series was presented at MWC 2018. It, therefore, seems likely that the new Asus smartphones will appear on MWC 2019. This annual fair takes place from 25 – 28 February 2019 in Barcelona.

We are going to witness the official launch of the Huawei P30 lineup of smartphones come March 26. Right ahead of the launch, Huawei has (accidentally) leaked the live shots of the Huawei P30 and the Huawei P30 Pro. This might very well be planned, but we cannot say anything for sure.

Huawei’s Netherlands website recently uploaded a new page which contained all the details of the upcoming devices. The page was removed pretty quickly, but the world of Android leaks, once again, came out quicker.

Though the images don’t tell us anything we already do not know of, they reassure us about the previous rumors and leaks surrounding the lineup.

Furthermore, we have finally got an idea as to what all we would get if we would pre-order the devices. If you pre-order the P30, you will get a Sonos One speaker, and if you pre-order the Pro variant, you will get the speaker and a wireless charger.

Huawei P30 Pro: Geekbench scores

  • Single-core score: 3289
  • Multi-core score: 9817
  • Kirin 980 chipset
  • 8GB RAM
  • Android 9 Pie

A couple of days ago, MobielKopen discovered a Geekbench benchmark for the Huawei P30 Pro. As presumed, the phone will be driven by a 1.8Ghz octa-core Kirin 980 processor with 8GB of RAM memory and runs on Android 9 Pie. The same hardware can be found in Huawei’s current flagship model, the Mate 20 Pro.

We already know that the Huawei P30 (and the P30 Pro) will feature a periscope camera on the back and a triple camera setup will make its way to the device.

To know more about the devices, you can head to our existing coverage of the same.

Meizu 16s appears in yet another leaked image confirming previous rumors

A couple of days ago, the upcoming Meizu 16s received the 3C certification which hinted at a nearby launch (expected to be launched in the month of May).

The device has now once again popped up on the internet courtesy of a leaked hands-on image.

The newly leaked image sort of confirms the previously leaked ones as this one also features an almost bezel-less screen with no notch. The picture appears to be taken at some sort of a smartphones repair shop by the looks of the background.

We can see the front camera at the top right side of the forehead of the Meizu 16s (alleged). Why the other companies cannot try to have the front camera embedded somewhere here is a mystery.

As far as the specifications are concerned, under the hood, the devices (the Meizu 16 lineup) will be powered with the flagship Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 chipset which will be coupled with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage with a scope of further expansion with the help of an external SD card.

A 3,600mAh battery will fuel the device, but we won’t get any fast charging coming up with the device.

The price will be somewhere around $490. As of now, this is all we know about the devices, but we are sure to receive further intel on the same in the coming days as the launch date approaches.

meizu 16s full specifications

The upcoming Meizu 16s has recently received the 3C certification which hints at a nearby launch. meizu 16s 3c certification

The device which has received the certification has the model number M971Q and though there is not much intel on the specifications mentioned in the listing, we now know that the Meizu 16s will come with a UP0830S charger which happens to be the company’s native charger with mCharge capabilities.

Lets’ have a look at some of the leaked specifications of both the Meizu 16s and the Meizu 16s Plus.

Starting things off with the displays of both the devices, the Meizu 16s has a 6.2-inch FHD+ AMOLED display while the one found on the Meizu 16s Plus has a bigger 6.78-inch FHD+ AMOLED display. The chin found on the smaller variant is considerably thinner when compared with the Plus variant. There is no notch at the top of the display and it is commendable to see Meizu sticking to its very basics. The forehead is pretty thin and looks absolutely amazing. Other companies should definitely be learning from this.
