Earlier this month (August 8 to be precise), Xiaomi announced that it will launch a new variant of the Xiaomi Mi 8. The new version is going to come packed with a massive 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. Finally, the device has begun selling and is available on JD.com.
The price of the beefed-up Mi 8 is kept at CNY 3,299 ($480). Interestingly enough, the standard 6GB/256GB variant is also kept at the same price, so if you can compromise with the internal memory, you might want to go with the 8GB variant as it packs in additional 2GB of valuable RAM which would turn out to be useful while playing resource-heavy games.[better-ads type=”banner” banner=”8698″ campaign=”none” count=”2″ columns=”1″ orderby=”rand” order=”ASC” align=”center” show-caption=”0″][/better-ads]
Talking about the rest of the specifications of the device, the Xiaomi Mi 8 sports a 6.21-inch FHD+ AMOLED display with a resolution of 2248 x 1080 pixels, a screen-to-body ratio of 88.5 percent, 60000:1 contrast ratio, up to 600nits brightness, an 18.7:9 aspect ratio, HDR support, DCI-P3 color gamut, Eye protection mode, and an Always-On Display. There is a notch at the top of the display which houses the front camera and an infrared sensor for facial unlock.
Under the hood, we get a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset coupled with 6GB of RAM and 64GB/128GB/256GB of internal storage which can further be expanded with the help of an external SD card. The device scored a whopping 300,000 on AnTuTu.[better-ads type=”banner” banner=”6347″ campaign=”none” count=”2″ columns=”1″ orderby=”rand” order=”ASC” align=”center” show-caption=”0″][/better-ads]
A 3,400 mAh battery fuels the device which is capable of Quick Charge 4+ fast charging.
As far as the OS is concerned, the Mi 8 runs on Android 8.1 Oreo with MIUI 10 on top of it.
