Vivo has finally taken the wraps off the first smartphone under its new Z lineup of smartphones. The Vivo Z1 is now launched in China for a compelling price of 1,798 Yuan (~$282).
Though the device falls under the mid-range segment of the market, the specifications of the device are way above mid-range, making it one of the most interesting smartphones at the price point it is being offered at.
Vivo Z1: Full specifications
Starting off with the display, the Vivo Z1 offers a 6.26-inch Full-view In-cell LCD display giving out a screen-to-body ratio of more than 89.53% and a 19:9 aspect ratio. There is a notch at the top of the display which houses the camera and the sensors of the device. The chin of the device is also considerably thin which makes it look absolutely premium. The device is 7.79mm thick and comes in three color variants – Black, Blue, and Red.
Moving on to the cameras of the device, the Vivo Z1 sports a dual camera setup at the back (13MP + 2MP) with Phase Detection Autofocus (PDAF) and AI features. The cameras are vertically aligned and the LED flash sits right underneath the camera setup.
The fingerprint scanner is also located at the rear of the device with the Vivo branding underneath it. At the front, we get a 24MP ultra-high pixel selfie snapper with support for AI beauty technology and facial unlock. The facial recognition mechanism of the device can detect up to 1024 feature dimensions of the face.
Under the hood, we get a Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 chipset powering the device, coupled with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage which can further be expanded up to 256GB with the help of an external SD card. The device supports two SIM cards (both with 4G VoLTE support). The SIM tray sits at the left side of the device while the volume rocker and the power button are on the right side.
At the bottom, we get the speaker grill and a standard USB 2.0 charging port. Thankfully, there is a 3.5mm headphone jack support.
There is a 3260 mAh battery fueling the device which is capable of quick charging. The presence of the power-efficient SD660 and the built-in Jovi AI Assistant would ensure an optimum battery life with the Vivo Z1.
About the OS, the Vivo Z1 runs on Android 8.1 Oreo with FunTouchOS 4.0 on top of it. As mentioned earlier, the device costs 1,798 Yuan (~$282) and is available for pre-order on JD.com.
