The best Android smartphones for gaming: Android Updated Picks

Published

on

Android gaming has come a long way since its inception. Long gone are the days when gaming on Android was restricted to casual game titles and almost all the major gaming series are available in the Google Play Store.

If you are a fan of gaming, you are at the right place. Here are the best Android smartphones for gaming which you can invest your bucks in:

Best Android smartphones for gaming: Android Updated Picks

1. Xiaomi Black Shark

Xiaomi recently unveiled its first-ever gaming smartphone under its subbrand. The device dubbed the Black Shark has pretty amazing specifications and a very compelling price.

Kicking things off with the power, the Black Shark is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset coupled with either 6GB or 8GB of RAM depending on the variant you choose. At the GPU front, an Adreno 630 GPU is provided to support the graphics.

At the display front, we get a 6.99-inch Full HD+ panel which has an aspect ratio of 18:9 and a 97% DCI-P3 coverage at the front.

Moving to the multimedia, the Black Shark has a single speaker, the earpiece, however, would double as a speaker for a Biso stereo sound. Die-hard gaming fans would love the device as it has support for an external Black Shark Gamepad that has a 340 mAh battery of its own and can be connected via Bluetooth.

2. Razer Phone

The biggest rival to the Xiaomi Black Shark, the Razer Phone, is an incredible Android smartphone when it comes to gaming.

Powering the device is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset coupled with a whopping 8GB of RAM. At the display front, we get a 5.7-inch Full HD display with a 120 GHz refresh rate. The feature can be combined with an Ultra Motion technology which allows for a buttery-smooth gaming experience.

There is a 4,000 mAh battery capable of Quick Charging. The phone, sadly, still runs on Android 7.0 Nougat and there is no word as to whether or not it will receive an Android Oreo update.

Coming to the camera, the Razer Phone has a dual camera setup at the back (12MP + 12MP) and an 8MP front camera for selfies. The device would cost you $699.

3. Samsung Galaxy S9 lineup

The current Samsung flagship, the Samsung Galaxy S9, and the Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus have a lot of gaming potential under the hood. Though the devices are not dedicated gaming smartphones, there is no game on the Google Play Store which would take any hiccups if played on these devices.

While the Galaxy S9 has a 5.8-inch Quad HD+ Super AMOLED infinity display, the Galaxy S9+ has a bigger 6.8-inch one with the same resolution. Both the displays are capable enough of providing you with an ultra-immersive gaming experience.

Powering the devices is an Exynos 9810 or Snapdragon 845 (depending on the region you are living in), coupled with 6GB/8GB of RAM, good enough to justify any gaming load thrown at them.

4. Motorola Moto Z2 Play

The Motorola Moto Z2 Play has been around for a while now and is probably not the most powerful smartphone out there. That being said, if you are looking for a mid-range smartphone which would suffice your gaming needs, the Moto Z2 Play is certainly an excellent choice.

The device features a 5.5-inch Super AMOLED display which produces crisp and vibrant colors.

What’s even better is the fact that the device supports the Moto Gamepad which would take your gaming experience to a whole new level. The Moto Gamepad has its own D-pad and four action buttons. It also has its own 1,035 mAh battery. The Moto Gamepad will cost you around $80.

These are the best gaming smartphones that you can go for. We’d be adding more to the list based on your suggestions. Do not forget to subscribe to Android Updated. To do so, just tap the bell icon at the bottom of your device screen.

Oppo Reno lineup to have 5 devices – Pro, Plus, Zoom, Lite, and Youth

Published

oppo reno

We got to know about the upcoming Oppo sub-brand Reno a couple of weeks ago. The Reno lineup of smartphones will be focused on youth as it will pack in punchy and vibrant colors at the back.

Now, courtesy of Letsgodigital, we have got intel on the various models in the lineup. As per the report, the lineup will have five devices (initially) – Reno Pro, Reno Plus, Reno Zoom, Reno Lite, and Reno Youth.

On March 20, 2019, Guangdong Oppo Mobile Telecommunications submitted the trademark applications to the EUIPO (European Union Intellectual Property Office) and to the IPO (Intellectual Property Office UK). The trademarks are classified as Class 9, which includes smartphones. The names are Reno Pro, Reno Plus, Reno Zoom, Reno Lite, and finally Reno Youth.

The trademark was applied for by Domingo Galletero Company, a law firm in Alicante. This company has often acted in the name of Oppo, as the Spanish company also applied for brand name protection at the beginning of this year for the name Oppo Limn.

Oppo Reno Pro

Based on the name you can assume that the Pro model will be a top model. It was previously known that the Reno will be powered by the Snapdragon 855 processor, or this will apply to all models is still unknown. But this powerful chipset will probably be used for the Oppo Reno Pro. It also seems obvious that this phone will offer 5G support.

Oppo Reno Plus

The name Reno Plus can have several meanings. This may involve an extra large screen, extra memory or an extra large battery. This last option certainly does not seem unlikely, it has already been announced that the Reno will be equipped with a 4,800 mAh battery. Oppo’s fast charging technology, called SuperVOOC Flash Charge, will certainly not be missing.

Oppo Reno Zoom

It is obvious that the name Reno Zoom refers to the zoom function of the camera. Earlier this year Oppo announced to have a smartphone with 10x optical zoom in development. This phone was already demonstrated at MWC 2019 last month. It is a triple camera with image stabilization. The triple camera consists of a 48-megapixel main camera, an ultra wide-angle camera, and an 8-megapixel zoom camera.

Oppo Reno Youth

The name Youth does not leave much to the imagination. Young consumers are an important target group for innovative Oppo. The Reno Youth seems to be meant for that. What this will mean for the functionality is still unknown, but this will probably be one of the cheaper models.

Oppo Reno Lite

The name Reno Lite also reminds me of a cheaper smartphone model. It is possible that this smartphone will be provided with less powerful hardware, in order to be able to offer an affordable device for every consumer.

The will run on the Android 9.0 operating system in combination with the recently introduced ColorOS 6 user interface from Oppo. Oppo’s own voice assistant, Breeno, will also be available.

We are going to witness the official launch of the Huawei P30 lineup of smartphones come March 26. Right ahead of the launch, Huawei has (accidentally) leaked the live shots of the Huawei P30 and the Huawei P30 Pro. This might very well be planned, but we cannot say anything for sure.

Huawei’s Netherlands website recently uploaded a new page which contained all the details of the upcoming devices. The page was removed pretty quickly, but the world of Android leaks, once again, came out quicker.

Though the images don’t tell us anything we already do not know of, they reassure us about the previous rumors and leaks surrounding the lineup.

Furthermore, we have finally got an idea as to what all we would get if we would pre-order the devices. If you pre-order the P30, you will get a Sonos One speaker, and if you pre-order the Pro variant, you will get the speaker and a wireless charger.

Huawei P30 Pro: Geekbench scores

  • Single-core score: 3289
  • Multi-core score: 9817
  • Kirin 980 chipset
  • 8GB RAM
  • Android 9 Pie

A couple of days ago, MobielKopen discovered a Geekbench benchmark for the Huawei P30 Pro. As presumed, the phone will be driven by a 1.8Ghz octa-core Kirin 980 processor with 8GB of RAM memory and runs on Android 9 Pie. The same hardware can be found in Huawei’s current flagship model, the Mate 20 Pro.

We already know that the Huawei P30 (and the P30 Pro) will feature a periscope camera on the back and a triple camera setup will make its way to the device.

To know more about the devices, you can head to our existing coverage of the same.

Meizu 16s appears in yet another leaked image confirming previous rumors

Published

A couple of days ago, the upcoming Meizu 16s received the 3C certification which hinted at a nearby launch (expected to be launched in the month of May).

The device has now once again popped up on the internet courtesy of a leaked hands-on image.

The newly leaked image sort of confirms the previously leaked ones as this one also features an almost bezel-less screen with no notch. The picture appears to be taken at some sort of a smartphones repair shop by the looks of the background.

We can see the front camera at the top right side of the forehead of the Meizu 16s (alleged). Why the other companies cannot try to have the front camera embedded somewhere here is a mystery.

As far as the specifications are concerned, under the hood, the devices (the Meizu 16 lineup) will be powered with the flagship Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 chipset which will be coupled with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage with a scope of further expansion with the help of an external SD card.

A 3,600mAh battery will fuel the device, but we won’t get any fast charging coming up with the device.

The price will be somewhere around $490. As of now, this is all we know about the devices, but we are sure to receive further intel on the same in the coming days as the launch date approaches.
