This week was indeed a pretty busy one. We saw a lot of smartphones getting announced. Though the smartphones launched this week were not flagships, some of them are pretty capable devices.

Here are some of the best Android smartphones launched this week:

Android Weekly #12: The best Android smartphones announced this week

HTC Desire 12 and HTC Desire 12+ ($250)

HTC Desire 12 plus full specifications

HTC Desire 12+

HTC has announced a new lineup under the Desire series, dubbed the HTC Desire and the HTC Desire 12+. Both of these smartphones are pretty capable mid-range smartphones boasting of an amazing design.

Starting up with the basic Desire 12, the device has a 5.5-inch screen with an 18:9 aspect ratio and 1440 x 720 resolution. Powering the device is a MediaTek MT6739 chipset coupled with 2GB / 3GB of RAM (HTC could have done much better in the power department though). On the memory front, we get either 16GB or 32GB depending on the variant you select.

Coming to the camera, there is a 13MP camera at the back and a 5MP unit at the front for taking selfies. There is a 2,730 mAh battery which supports quick charging.

Coming to the Desire 12+, this is the bigger, beefier variant in the Desire 12 lineup. The device sports a 6-inch display with the same aspect ratio and, sadly, the same resolution as the Desire 12.

Rather than making use of a MediaTek chipset, the company has fortunately decided to opt for a Qualcomm unit.

Oppo A1

oppo A1 full review

The Oppo A1 features a 5.7-inch screen with a resolution of 720 x 1440 pixels, 18:9 aspect ratio, 4GB of RAM, and 64GB of internal storage.

The lack of a fingerprint scanner and the presence of a single camera at the back kind of question the company’s decisions a bit. That said, the device is out there and in case you are a fan of Oppo smartphones, the Oppo A1 is going to be launched pretty soon.

The Huawei Enjoy 9e will come in a faux leather variant, specifications leaked

huawei enjoy 9e faux leather back variant

Yet another day, yet another budget smartphone from Huawei gets leaked. This time, we have got the upcoming Huawei Enjoy 9e under the radar. Mysmartprice has recently leaked the specifications and a bunch of press renders of the device which showcases its design language in all its glory.

The render images suggest that the Huawei Enjoy 9e will feature a waterdrop notch at the top. The chin of the device will be fairly wide as we can clearly see the Huawei branding there. At the back, we see the regular game. The Huawei branding is on the bottom left portion of the back. A physical fingerprint scanner is nowhere to be seen. Furthermore, there is just a single rear camera.

In addition to the Black and the Blue color variants, we will get a Brown color variant which will boast of a faux leather back.

The website has also leaked some key specifications of the Huawei 9e. As per the report, the device will be powered with a Helio P35 chipset which will be coupled with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage with scope for further expansion (up to 512GB) with the help of an external SD card. A 3,020 mAh battery will fuel the device.

A 6.08-inch HD+ display with a waterdrop notch will sit at the front. The notch will accommodate the front camera of the device and given that the Huawei Enjoy 9e would not feature a fingerprint scanner, one would have to rely on the facial unlock mechanism to get the job done.

As far as the cameras of the device are concerned, the Huawei Enjoy 9e will feature a single 13MP (f/1.8) rear camera and an 8MP (f/2.0) front camera.

As of now, this is all we know about the device, but we will keep you posted the moment we receive further intel on the same.

Oppo Reno lineup to have 5 devices – Pro, Plus, Zoom, Lite, and Youth

Published

oppo reno

We got to know about the upcoming Oppo sub-brand Reno a couple of weeks ago. The Reno lineup of smartphones will be focused on youth as it will pack in punchy and vibrant colors at the back.

Now, courtesy of Letsgodigital, we have got intel on the various models in the lineup. As per the report, the lineup will have five devices (initially) – Reno Pro, Reno Plus, Reno Zoom, Reno Lite, and Reno Youth.

On March 20, 2019, Guangdong Oppo Mobile Telecommunications submitted the trademark applications to the EUIPO (European Union Intellectual Property Office) and to the IPO (Intellectual Property Office UK). The trademarks are classified as Class 9, which includes smartphones. The names are Reno Pro, Reno Plus, Reno Zoom, Reno Lite, and finally Reno Youth.

The trademark was applied for by Domingo Galletero Company, a law firm in Alicante. This company has often acted in the name of Oppo, as the Spanish company also applied for brand name protection at the beginning of this year for the name Oppo Limn.

Oppo Reno Pro

Based on the name you can assume that the Pro model will be a top model. It was previously known that the Reno will be powered by the Snapdragon 855 processor, or this will apply to all models is still unknown. But this powerful chipset will probably be used for the Oppo Reno Pro. It also seems obvious that this phone will offer 5G support.

Oppo Reno Plus

The name Reno Plus can have several meanings. This may involve an extra large screen, extra memory or an extra large battery. This last option certainly does not seem unlikely, it has already been announced that the Reno will be equipped with a 4,800 mAh battery. Oppo’s fast charging technology, called SuperVOOC Flash Charge, will certainly not be missing.

Oppo Reno Zoom

It is obvious that the name Reno Zoom refers to the zoom function of the camera. Earlier this year Oppo announced to have a smartphone with 10x optical zoom in development. This phone was already demonstrated at MWC 2019 last month. It is a triple camera with image stabilization. The triple camera consists of a 48-megapixel main camera, an ultra wide-angle camera, and an 8-megapixel zoom camera.

Oppo Reno Youth

The name Youth does not leave much to the imagination. Young consumers are an important target group for innovative Oppo. The Reno Youth seems to be meant for that. What this will mean for the functionality is still unknown, but this will probably be one of the cheaper models.

Oppo Reno Lite

The name Reno Lite also reminds me of a cheaper smartphone model. It is possible that this smartphone will be provided with less powerful hardware, in order to be able to offer an affordable device for every consumer.

The will run on the Android 9.0 operating system in combination with the recently introduced ColorOS 6 user interface from Oppo. Oppo’s own voice assistant, Breeno, will also be available.
