Apple is reportedly working on launching a new smart speaker. The company has already filed the patent for the same.

On February 5, 2019, a design patent was published by Apple Inc. in the Global design Database of WIPO (World Intellectual Property Office). The patent was filed in 2016 and is titled ‘Electronic device’.
The patented Apple speaker is very similar to the existing HomePod. The smart speaker is slimmer and higher than the original but retains its globular design. The smart speaker seems to be provided with a series of connections. Unfortunately, it is not clear from the summary description of what these are for.
As always with patents, the question remains whether this product is ever put on the market. The patent has been applied for some time ago, which raises the question of whether this is a future design. Nevertheless, no mention has been made of this design before.
Yesterday, MacRumors published an Apple patent describing a HomePod with Face ID and 3D hand gestures. It is possible that these functions will also be available in the future Apple speaker.
The original Apple HomePod was announced in September 2017 at the WWDC (Worldwide Developers Conference). Last year, new functions were also announced in September. Chances are that the company WWDC 2019 will again focus on the smart players, possibly in the form of a second the generation HomePod.
