Samsung will launch a new smartwatch dubbed the Samsung Galaxy Watch Active during the Unpacked event on February 20 alongside the launch of the widely awaited Samsung Galaxy S10 lineup of smartphones.
Contrary to the earlier reports that suggested that the upcoming smartwatch by the company would be dubbed Samsung Galaxy Sport, the company has decided to use Active as the keyword.
As per the report, the Samsung Galaxy Watch Active will have the model number SM-R500 and will be codenamed, Pulse.
As far as the specifications are concerned, the Galaxy Watch Active will sport a 1.3-inch display (identical to the previous Samsung Galaxy Watch) with a resolution of 360×360 pixels.
The battery, on the other hand, is surprisingly going to be much smaller than the previous generation (230 mAh battery vs 300 mAh).
Under the hood, the watch will be powered with an Exynos 9110 chipset and will run on the company’s proprietary Tizen 126.96.36.199 OS.
Other specifications would include a built-in speaker, NFC, GPS, a heart rate monitor, LTE support, and support for Samsung Pay.
As mentioned earlier, the Samsung Galaxy Watch Active will be launched on February 20.
As of now, this is all we know about the watch, but we are likely to get a further scoop on the same in the coming days as the launch date approaches.
