LG Electronics has applied for a trademark on 1 February 2019 in Colombia for the brand name Q60. The trademark is classified as Class 9 with the description; ‘smartphones’.
The LG Q series is a relatively young smartphone series that was created in mid-2017 with the introduction of the Q6 series, consisting of three telephone models. The Q6 was also seen as the little brother of the G6, the top model at the time. In May last year, the Q7 series was launched as a cheaper version of the G7 ThinQ. And not much later three Q Stylus models were added, these are middle-class smartphones with a stylus pen.
Last month, the last model was introduced within the Q series, the LG Q9 . This time, however, it was not three models, but one model. The smartphone is also only released in Korea.
Moreover, it is the first time that LG introduces the Q-series model before the top model is released. You would expect the Q8 to be released after the LG G8 ThinQ has been unveiled. Does this mean that LG’s next top model is not the G8, but the LG G9? We will have to wait and see.
On the other hand, the Q9 showed a lot of similarities with the G7 Fit, the cheapest model within the high-end G-series. It is therefore also possible that LG intends to launch even more Q series smartphones in 2019.
Whether the LG Q60 will become one of the new models remains difficult to predict, and finally, the company has not introduced any Q series models with dozens. In addition, it is, of course, possible that the Q60 will not be available worldwide.
