Samsung recently launched the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 and is now all geared up for the upcoming Samsung Galaxy X foldable smartphone and the Samsung Galaxy S10 lineup. The current flagship, the Galaxy Note 9 has a lot going on in its favor, save for the fact that we still have the ever-controversial Bixby home button.
Luckily, a new update for the Bixby sorts the problem (sort of) with a new behavior option. By default, pressing the Bixby button takes you to the assistant interface no matter what part of the device menu you were at. This is good when required, very annoying whenever the press is accidental.
Samsung heard the users’ complaints and pushed out a new update to the Bixby for the Samsung Galaxy S9+ which let you completely disable the Bixby button for good. If, however, you do not want to get rid of the Bixby key completely, it is good news for you (at least for those who own a Samsung Galaxy Note 9).
The new update will let you choose between two options – Press the Bixby button once to access Bixby or press it twice in order to do the same. This solves two big issues – you still get to access Bixby if you want and you get rid of the accidental clicks as well. So, it’s a win-win situation for both Samsung and the users. We certainly hope that the update arrives the rest of the Samsung devices pretty soon.
Meanwhile, if you do not want to wait for the update to reach your device, you can try out bxActions which will let you remap your Bixby button as per your liking.
