When the entire world was busy watching the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 become a reality, Meizu quietly unveiled the Meizu 16 lineup of smartphones.
Though most of the leaked specifications turned out to be true, we actually got way more than we had anticipated. While the Meizu 16 Plus was tipped to sport a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset, the standard Meizu 16 was reportedly going to be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 chipset instead. As it turns out, the company decided to treat its customers with the same processing power with both the smartphones and we get the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC powering the standard edition as well.
Truth be told, both the Meizu 16 and the Meizu 16 Plus are amazing smartphones in their own right and as if that were not enough, the company has decided to launch yet another variant of the Meizu 16 lineup dubbed the Meizu 16X pretty soon. One should keep in mind that this is not a rumor or a leak. The news has indeed been revealed by the company’s CEO himself.
It appears as if the company did not want to hurt the leakers and the tipsters. The Meizu 16X will be running on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 chipset as apparent from the above image. Just like the rest of the two smartphones in the lineup, the Meizu 16X will run on Android 8.1.0 Oreo out of the box.
As a matter of fact, the device has already appeared on the Geekbench database as well.
The device scored 1,851 in single-core test and 5,558 in multi-core test. As per the Geekbench listing, the Meizu 16X will feature 6GB of RAM.
As of now, there is no word on the price and the release date of the device. That said, since it has already started popping up on the internet and the company is also being pretty vocal about it, we can safely assume that the Meizu 16X will join the rest of its family pretty soon.
