You can make a group call with up to four people total – anytime and anywhere. Just start a one-on-one voice or video call and tap the new “add participant” button in the top right corner to add more contacts to the call. Group calls are always end-to-end encrypted, and we’ve designed calling to work reliably around the world in different network conditions. The feature is currently rolling out on the iPhone and Android versions of our app.WhatsApp blog

WhatsApp also shared on the blog post that the WhatsApp users spend more than 2 billion minutes on WhatsApp calls per day.

In order to start a group chat, you have to initiate a chat conversation with a single person. Post that, you can add more people to the chat by tapping the icon at the top-right corner of the screen.

You can add up to 3 more people including you and video chat with them at the same time. Personally, I feel the feature is an overkill, but if you are a fan of group chats, you are surely going to like it. The update has hit the Google Play Store already.
