When it comes to knowing whatever is happening in and around the world, Google is the first tool a lot of us opt to make use of. Google has a lot of services and apps which help us stay updated. One of those is the Google News app.
Now, the company appears to be looking forward to integrating the services from YouTube and the Google Play Newsstand into the Google News app. The revamped Google News service will have the YouTube’s news section, as well as the features from the Google Play Newsstand, integrated natively.
An anonymous publishing executive who had been told everything about the company’s plans told that the new redesign is “a consolidation of all the ways you can interact with news on Google.”
There are a lot of Google services where you find news, and what they’re trying to do is bring it all under one brand,
The new app is set to be unveiled at the Google I/O 2018 next week. On top of the YouTube videos integration, the revamped Google News app will also have support for Google’s Accelerated Mobile Pages (AMP) project meaning an ultra-quick loading time for the articles.
This also gives the news publishers a chance to get themselves on the top of search results as Google’s search algorithm is most likely going to be changed after the update is rolled out.
After the new update, the Google Play Newsstand is likely to be shuttered as it will be redundant and we are presumably going to see the app as a new version of the Google News and Weather app.
