Facebook has decided to simplify the Messenger app. At the F8 Facebook Developer Conference, the company announced that it is going to push a new feature which will streamline the entire layout of the Messenger app.
When you’re messaging, you really want a simple and fast experience. We’re taking this moment to completely redesign Messenger to focus these ideas.
The Facebook Messenger app has always shared a love-hate relationship when it comes to its interface. Some like the various features the app provides while some just want a clean, clutter-free experience which the Messenger is certainly not providing for a pretty long time now.
During the keynote, David Marcus, the Vice President of Facebook Messenger, announced that a streamlined update for the Messenger is going to be rolled out very, very soon and the company has been working on it ever since the beginning of 2018.
As of now, there are five tabs on the bottom of the app and three on the top of it. After the update, the bottom space will house just three tabs – chats, contacts, and Facebook’s find my friends feature. At the top, there will be three tabs – compose a message, camera, and video call. At the top left, one would find a user image thumbnail and a search bar right underneath the top tab.
In addition to the usual white mode, the latest Messenger update will also bring in a dark-colored UI for the app which is a welcome change.
The chat bubbles will have a colored tint after the update. As of now, there is no word as to when the new Messenger update will start rolling out. That said, the very, very soon statement kind of confirms that we might be receiving the update in the coming weeks.
