Samsung is reportedly working on launching the active variant of its current flagship, the Samsung Galaxy S9.
The Samsung Galaxy S9 Active will sport a massive 4,000 mAh battery. According to a leaked image (shown below), the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S9 Active will have the model number SM-G893 which falls in line with the previous Galaxy Active devices (the Galaxy S8 Active had a model number SM-G892 and the Galaxy S7 Active was SM-G891).
Though a 4,000 mAh battery is not gigantic in any terms as a lot of Android smartphones in 2018 boast of a battery of even larger sizes and they are not the rugged versions. Take the Huawei P20 for an example. Xiaomi has been doing it for a while now with almost all its devices. That said, those who are fans of the Galaxy Active devices are certainly going to like this news.
Other than the battery, the rest of the specifications are identical to the Galaxy S9. Powering the Galaxy S9 Active will be a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset coupled with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage which can further be expanded with the help of an external SD card.
Coming to the camera to be used in the device, the Galaxy S9 Active will feature a dual camera setup at the back (12MP, F1.5/F2.4 dual aperture lens + 8MP, F1.7 aperture).
The device will sport a 5.8-inch Infinity Display giving out a resolution of 2960×1440 pixels.
As of now, there is no news on the price and the release date of the device, but we are sure to hear it soon as the device is going to be released somewhere this summer.
