Xiaomi has finally launched the first-ever gaming smartphone under its subbrand. The device called the Black Shark features amazing specifications and features at an amazing price.
The device is customized entirely to provide an astonishing gaming experience and is certainly going to be the hot favorite among those who love gaming on their smartphones.
Xiaomi Black Shark review: A beast has arrived
Kicking things off with the power, the Black Shark is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset coupled with either 6GB or 8GB of RAM depending on the variant you choose. At the GPU front, an Adreno 630 GPU is provided to support the graphics.
At the display front, we get a 6.99-inch Full HD+ panel which has an aspect ratio of 18:9 and a 97% DCI-P3 coverage at the front.
To make things running buttery smooth, Xiaomi has integrated a multi-stage integrated liquid cooling system that brings the CPU temperature 8° C down.
At the storage front, we get two memory variants – one with 64GB of internal storage and the other one with 128GB of internal storage. Sadly, there is no scope for expansion out here. That said, the internal storage would suffice.
The image processing chip onboard provided underneath the hood keeps the images sharp and ensures an optimum performance all the time.
Coming to the battery of the device, the Black Shark is provided with a 4,000 mAh battery which supports quick charging.
Moving to the multimedia, the Black Shark has a single speaker, the earpiece, however, would double as a speaker for a Biso stereo sound. Die-hard gaming fans would love the device as it has support for an external Black Shark Gamepad that has a 340 mAh battery of its own and can be connected via Bluetooth.
The device also sports a dedicated “Shark” button on the left that lets you dedicate all the processing power to the game you are playing to ensure maximum performance.
Coming to the OS, the Black Shark smartphone runs on Android 8.0 Oreo with the company’s in-house JOY UI on top.
Talking about the camera of the device, there is a dual camera setup at the back (12 MP f/1.75 + 20 MP f/1.75) which is backed up with a dual-tone LED flash. At the front, we get a 20MP selfie snapper.
Coming to the price of the device, the Black Shark is available for CNY3,499/€452/$557 for the 8GB/128GB variant and CNY2,999/€387/$477 for the 6GB/64GB variant. Looking at the features the device possesses, the price appears to be pretty genuine, making the Black Shark a pretty compelling device to go for.
About the Black Shark Gamepad, if you are among the first 50,000 to buy the device, you are going to get the Gamepad for free. Post that, it would cost you another CNY179/€23/$28.
The device is available for pre-order and you can get it from the review rating section at the top.
