Google Home and Google Home Mini
The Google Home lineup of Assistants is probably one of the best ones out there. You should definitely be investing in them if you are a fan of virtual assistants.
Google has finally launched the Google Home and the Google Home Mini in India. So far, the Indians were not able to enjoy the amazing virtual assistant lineup owned by Google and finally, the company has decided to greet the country with them.
So far, the Indian market was ruled by the likes of the Amazon Echo lineup of assistants and it made complete sense that Google did something about it.
This is good news for the potential users in India and Google has apparently been keen to push its lineup of assistants to the subcontinent (the support for Hindi for the Google Assistant was rolled out last month) owing to the competition it is getting by the likes of the Amazon-owned range of assistants (Echo Plus, Echo, and Echo Dot).
This way, the Google Home devices will have a one-up advantage in this battle of the assistants as the Alexa products do not have support for Hindi as of now.
Coming to the prices of the devices, while the Google Home will cost you INR 9999 ($153), the smaller Google Home Mini will have a price tag of INR 4999 ($69). The prices have very strategically been kept nearly identical to that of the Amazon Echo lineup and it makes complete sense too.
The devices will be sold exclusively via Flipkart and offline via Reliance Digital, Croma, and Bajaj Electronics. Additionally, Google is offering a six-month Google Play Music subscription for free. Moreover, if you purchase it through Flipkart, you would get a free JioFi Wireless Data Card, 10% cashback on HDFC Bank cards and 5% Cashback on Axis Bank Buzz cards. Adding to all that, if someone buys the devices before April 30, one would also get a free subscription for 18 months on the Indian music streaming apps Gaana and Saavn.
