The Nokia 9 is the company’s latest upcoming smartphone. While we were expecting the device to debut in the MWC, Nokia gave us the Nokia 8 Sirocco instead.
Now, everyone is waiting for the next Nokia flagship to arrive and the rumor market is already hot. According to the latest report by Nokia Power User, the upcoming Nokia 9 is going to sport a notch display and an on-screen fingerprint scanner.[blockquote cite=”Nokia Power User”]But he also adds that HMD is also trying to maximize the display area on its 2018 flagships and it may result in it sporting a “notch”. We have seen iPhone X sporting an ugly notch earlier and it made many Android vendors following this as the new “cool thing” to do.[/blockquote]
The reporter grudgingly accepts the fact that the notches on smartphones look ugly but we have sort of started living with the fact that they are the future.
Though NPU did not discuss the specifications of the Nokia 9, it did suggest that the device would feature a 5.7-inch display with an on-screen fingerprint scanner technology. It also talked about the expected price of the Nokia 9 which would be somewhere around the likes of the current Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus flagship.
Nokia 9: Expected specifications
While these are still early days to predict the specifications of the Nokia 9, the following specifications are almost certain to make their way to the end product:
- A 5.7-inch QHD+ display with a notch at the top
- A Snapdragon 845 Chipset (The Nokia 8 Sirocco features a Snapdragon 835 unit. It, therefore, makes complete sense that the Nokia 9 will feature the latest Snapdragon)
- A 22MP dual-lens Carl Zeiss camera
- Up to 8GB of RAM
- Android P out of the box
- In-screen fingerprint scanner
- Full metal unibody design
- Face unlock technology
